immanence “dwelling within” {Lat.}

Hi, I’m Vesna.

I took the scenic route to the therapeutic work, and I’m glad for it. Born to Bosnian immigrant parents and raised in Germany, I searched to find my own right way of relating to the world. As a young adult, I was naturally drawn to studying Art, Philosophy and Religious Studies at the Universities of Constance and Tübingen in Germany, when I had spontaneous and extended mystical experiences. These experiences changed my life and as it turns out, they became the very foundation that I now work from therapeutically at Immanence Therapy.

While living in Germany, I became a poet first, and writing, publishing and reading poetry did give me a deep sense of connectedness with the world. I initially came to the US through a doctoral exchange program in Philosophy at the State University of New York (SUNY), and have studied the field of belief and knowledge (Epistemology) for a long time. I wrote my thesis on Belief System Dynamics and the philosophical origins of Cognitive Psychology. Eventually though, I decided against the purely academic path, because I knew that I wanted, and needed to work with people.

I became a Certified Philosophical Counselor through the American Philosophical Practitioners Association (APPA) in New York in 2015, and completed another Master’s degree in Integral Counseling Psychology through the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco. I have been working as a Philosophical Counselor since 2014 and began my work as a psychotherapist in 2018. I completed my internship at the Grass Valley High School District, and my associateship at the Center for Transformational Therapy in Nevada City.

Allowing all of these elements to flow into the work creates a rich and deep therapeutic space in which we are able to really honor the existential and spiritual dimensions of life’s challenges. I bring to this work a solid understanding of the rational as well as the intuitive, and welcome clients from all walks of life – healers, artists, scientists, leaders and trailblazers, and everyone who inquires deeply and honestly into their life and their own place in the world.
